Club Projects:

Patrick is working on a “Goto” control system which will use some creative new technologies to automate tracking.

Nick, Bill and other club members are working on an inexpensive “Ponset” mount for adding right ascension tracking for Dobsonian mounted telescopes.

The current club project is to study and build an advanced, universal, motorized ALT/AZ fork mount that has GEM functionality for using a right ascension axis for tracking at high accuracy. Tad is working on the mechanical drawings in 3D and will be posting renderings of the device once he has finished.

Randy Turner is working on his special design of a Wright hybrid optics telescope. The final phase of the prototype is almost complete minus a small amount of machining for the mirror mount and other finishing details.
