High Country Astronomy Event June 10 - 14 2026
Camp sites will be available from June 10 (Wed) - 14 (Sunday) for our next get together in the high country. This will be Wed, Thurs, Fri, & Sat nights. June is typically clear, dry & warm so it's a great time to head for cooler temps in the Arizona White Mountains. Free camping for paid up club members else $7 per night.
I'll be reserving a group camp site at Apache Trout Campground, Big Lake AZ, that has water hookups & an open area for setting up scopes. It even has a dump station. Bring your own electricity.
The altitude at this location is 9,000'. Depending on monsoon activity, the high country can be susceptible to rain during the day. It generally clears at night with the dark cool air providing superb views of the night sky with cameras, telescopes, binoculars, & the naked eye (SQM 21.76).
